An attractive tree with rich green summer foliage, lovely cinnamon peeling bark, unusual alder like leaves and consistently good autumn colour which adds to the overall appeal.
Pyramidal when young, developing thick, glossy, dark green, heart-shaped foliage turning butter-yellow in autumn; the leaves are moderately scorch resistant.
Prefers a moist, well drained soil in full sun.
Tolerates a wide range of conditions once established, including heat, moderate drought, wet locations and a high resistance to pests and disease.
Best Suited For
May be of use in streetscapes where other Birch trees are less suited.
A low maintenance tree that is well suited to Australian conditions. Avoid pruning in late winter and early spring.
