From September to November, the Orchid Tree is adorned with an abundance of striking, fragrant, purple-pink blossoms which resemble an orchid. Throughout winter, slender brown seed pods appear and seeds ripen between February and May.
This is a small to medium sized fast-growing tree reaching up to 10 metres in height with a moderate to dense round crown and pale grey-brown bark. It is easy to grow and does best in full sun and planted in well-drained, fertile soil.
The Orchid Tree is widely planted as an ornamental tree in gardens, parks and along streets for its beautiful, perfumed, showy flowers.
