The Indian Bean tree is a robust medium-sized tree growing up to 10-12 metres tall, with a bushy habit spreading up to 8 metres wide and large, broad, light green leaves measuring up to 25cm long.
Attractive bell-shaped flowers bloom in shades of white, pink and orange with purple spotting during summer and can grow up to 3-4cm in width. Clusters of long, slender, bean-shaped seed capsules follow, growing up to 75cm in length.
Thrives in well-drained, moist, fertile soil but will tolerate clay and wet soils. Best positioned in full sun with protection from wind and frost.
This is a great low maintenance tree ideal for providing shade and adding colour and interest to gardens.
