A tall upright columnar slow growing deciduous tree. Flowering takes place in mid spring, and their fruit, called acorns, ripen by the following autumn.

Oblong, wavy dark green leaves cover erect branches forming a pyramidal shape as the tree matures
Position
Open sunny position. Plant in deeply worked, slightly acidic soil. Keep soil moist during dry periods when establishing a young tree. Requires plenty of room.
Care
Use a good mulch of organic matter to keep roots cool and moist. To encourage fast vertical growth, pinch out the side tips to prevent unwanted twiggy branches
